Welcome to the Springfield Heritage Education Center!
It is our goal to collect, compile, and present to our visitors the history of the Springfield neighborhood in Jacksonville, Florida.Springfield is steeped in tradition, with a rich history dating from 1837 to the present. As we develop this website, we invite you to read our blogs, view pictures and videos, read the news, and check out our time lines and calendars. We hope to have most of these functions working and data uploaded very soon.
To support our efforts, we encourage you to provide a donation to keep the history alive. We also have memberships available, so check those out. (This feature has yet to be implemented, so use Contact Us to make donations or requests for information.)
Thank you for your patience. Chris continues to review and scan files (text and photos) from Springfield's 1985 architectural survey. Rita and I follow closely by cleaning and uploading the files to the website. We have now uploaded all of 1st through 8th Streets and portions of 9th through 12th Streets, and have begun processing named streets (starting with Boulevard and working east). Our search function works best if you choose Street Address under <Select Type of Search>, type in a street name (ex: 2nd Street), then pick from the choices. We continue to make progress, so visit us often!
